Our Story & Mission
Ainsworth Church of the Nazarene is a local congregation with a mission rooted in love and community. Our mission– to help people meet Jesus where they are – comes from our belief that everyone deserves a place to belong and grow spiritually. We are part of the global Church of the Nazarene, a denomination known for emphasizing holiness, outreach, and heartfelt worship.
Over the years, this church has served Ainsworth by nurturing faith and providing a close-knit community. We place strong emphasis on living out faith through actions: “growing spiritually, serving others selflessly, and contributing to the betterment of society”.
Beliefs & Values
At Ainsworth Nazarene, we treasure the truths of the Christian faith. Our core values include:

These values shape our worship, Bible teaching, and community service. We worship in a way that celebrates God’s grace, not focusing on guilt or shame but on hope and restoration.
Community & Outreach
We see our church as a beacon of spiritual unity and community service in Ainsworth. Our congregation ranges from children to seniors, and all are encouraged to participate and grow.
We run practical outreach programs to help those in need – such as local food banks, disaster relief support, and neighborhood events – because we live out the Nazarene tradition of “practical holiness”.
Everyone has a place here to serve: whether it’s greeting visitors, singing in the worship team, teaching kids’ classes, or helping with community meals.
Meet the Pastor
Pastor Russell Thayer and his wife, Terri have served at Ainsworth since July 3, 2013. Pastor Russ and Terri work together to lovingly lead the church family to growing spiritually through their example of faithful service to the Lord. Pastor Russ' preaching of Biblical truth and using God's standards keeps the church rooted in the salvation and grace of Jesus Christ. Come and meet them in person!
Meet the Office Manager Janell Hart
Janell always greets you with a smile when you stop by her office, ready to serve. She enjoys her job as church secretary while involved in our after-school programs for children and teens.
